This bronze and sterling desk set is an unusual design for the Heintz line with a rose gold patina bronze with a sterling silver laurel decoration. The frame is marked on the back as shown, the box is not. Both have newer dark blue linings, which make this set especially attractive.
The frame holds a 3" by 2 ½" photo, but was originally designed to hold a set of calendar cards. The set is in very good condition and dates to Aug, 1912.
Both the box and frame have slight wear to the bronze patina, which was originally a specially applied patina, consistent with age. From a circa 1916 trade catalog: "Heintz wares have won an enviable reputation among buyers of art goods, because of originality and beauty of design, and unusual quality of attractiveness". Heintz is actively collected for its design and attractiveness. Measurements are: frame 4 ½" by 3 5/8" and 1 ½ deep. Box is 3" by 2 1/8" and 1 ½ tall. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Metalware\Other Collectible Metalware". The seller is "julietjonesvintage" and is located in this country: US.
